Kathua police rescues 21 bovines, seizes vehicle, arrests smuggler

KATHUA, May 20:- In continuation to thwart the conspiracies of bovine smuggling from the society,
Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP, Kathua, R C Kotwal today foiled bovine smuggling attempt, rescued 21 bovines, arrested one person and seized one vehicle involved.
Police said today a team led by Inspector, Sunil Kumar SHO Police Station (PS) Hiranagar under the supervision of SDPO Border, Pankaj Soodan while on Naka and checking duty near Londi Morh Naka point noticed one suspicious Vehicle (truck) bearing Registration Number JK02AP-4087 enrouted from Kathua side towards Samba.
On thorough checking, police team found 16 bovines which were being transported without any legal permission. Thereafter all the 16 bovines ( 11 cows and five oxen) were rescued and seized the vehicle involved.
A case FIR No. 65/2022 U/S 188/ IPC Act, 11PCA Act was registered at Police Station, Hiranagar and further investigation into this matter has been initiated.
While in another instance acting on the reliable information that one person namely Shokat Ali, son of Ibrahim of Fatehpur tehsil, Bani district Kathua is smuggling bovine animals from Punjab towards Srinagar via Canal road Housing Colony Kathua. Acting swiftly police team of PS Kathua headed by Inspector, O P Chib, SHO PS Kathua under the supervision of DySP Headquarters, Kathua, Shammi Kumar during special checking duty in that area noticed the said person was smuggling bovines by foot.
On thorough checking five bovines were recovered from his illegal possession. All the five bovines were rescued and one person was arrested on spot. A case vide FIR No. 202/2022 U/S 188/IPC has been registered at PS Kathua and further investigation into this matter has been set into probe. Thus ,overall 21 bovines were rescued, one person was arrested and one vehicle was seized as well.
