Kathua Police, Excise Deptt rescue 30 bovine animals

KATHUA, Oct 31: The Kathua police and Excise Department have rescued 30 bovine animals at two different places which were being smuggled into the State during last 24 hours.
According to police 25 bovine animals were rescued at village Banyari while they were being smuggled by one Hassan Mir, son of Gul Mir of Plah More, Pathankot, to Punjab.
Police arrested the bovine smuggler and registered a case FIR No 248/2018 under Section 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act. The police has started further investigation in the matter.
Meanwhile the officials of Toll Post Lakhanpur foiled another bovine smuggling bid when they seized a vehicle carrying 5 bovine animals which entered into the State from Punjab late last night.
According to a handout issued by the department today, the vehicle bearing Registration No. JK02CA-2836 type Mahindra Balero while trying to enter into the State at around 1.00 AM midnight was intercepted by Sub-Inspector at Car Jeep Counter, Manzoor Ahmed and on his instance, Excise team, chased and caught the vehicle near Maggar Khad. The staff of the Toll Post Lakhanpur seized the vehicles and foiled the attempt of illegal import of bovines.
The operation was conducted by the team of Excise Department headed by Excise & Taxation officers, Varinder Gupta, Aamir Ayaiz Rather , along with Sub-Inspectors, Kanwaljeet Shan, Manvinder Paul Singh, Manzoor Ahmed and Excise Guards Mohd. Pervez, Naveen Kumar under the direct supervision of Ashish Kumar Gupta, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur and accordingly the vehicle has been handed over to Station House Officer, Police Station Lakhanpur for further necessary action under law.
