KATHUA, Oct 31: A student of 9th class committed suicide under mysterious circumstances by hanging himself at his residence village Bandhor, in Billawer tehsil this afternoon when he was all alone in the house. He was studying at Sacred Heart Convent School, Billawer but was not attending the school for some days for unknown reasons.
His parents had gone to school as management had called them. His body was found hanging in room this afternoon. The youth was identified as Vasu Gupta, 15, son of Surinder Gupta resident of village Bandhore, tehsil Billawer. The police has sent the body for postmortem to Sub District Hospital, Billawer and handed over to family later on. The police started investigation into the matter under Section 174.
The family members of deceased later held a protest demonstration in front of the school at Billawer and accused the school administration for the death of their child. The deceased’s father Surinder Gupta while sobbing said that his son was harassed by school management for past few days. Under the terror of school management his son committed suicide. He said Vasu was very intelligent in education and was harassed by school management with out any reason. He was not allowed to attend the school for past few days, he added.
He said today they visited the school to ask the management about the reason that why their son was not allowed to attend the school. “But we have to return after hearing the bad news of his suicide”, he added.
The other family members were angry and accused the Sacred Heart Convent School administration for his death as there was no other reason for him to commit suicide.
The SHO Billawer Vijay Sharma said that police is investigating the matter seriously and will enquire from school management about allegation levied by family members. He said matter is so far under investigation and cause of suicide will be ascertained after questioning both the parties.
