KATHUA, Nov 6: To provide the insight about the current IT scenario and the emerging requirements of the industry, guest lectures were organized for the students of Ist batch of MCA at Kathua Campus of Jammu University here today. Dr. Vinod Sharma and Jatinder Manhas were the subject experts.
Dr. Vinod Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and IT, University of Jammu talked about the required set of technical and analytical skills needed to be successful in the corporate world. He emphasized on improving the communication and employability skills and shared with the students how these skills help in the selection during the placement drive. Besides, he discussed the role of artificial intelligence, machine learning, pattern recognition system in real life with the students.
Jatinder Manhas, Assistant. Professor, Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu during the discussion explained the importance of web designing, web mining and telecommunication in computer science. He also enlightened the students with the difference between broadband and baseband communication. The lectures were followed by the interaction with the students of the maiden batch of the MCA programme at Kathua Campus.
Earlier, Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Rector Kathua Campus, University of Jammu welcomed the subject experts to the Campus. On the occasion, she said that such interactive sessions will be organized on regular basis to acquaint the students with the latest developments in the field of Computer Sciences and Information Technology. She further lauded the efforts of the faculty and the staff at Kathua Campus in working towards making the Campus take off both and academically and in infrastructural terms.
It is pertinent to mention that a new block for the MCA and MBA programmes has been made functional at the Kathua Campus, wherein a well equipped Computer Lab with networking, Smart Classroom facility, and the other audio-visual and ICT gadgets have been installed to facilitate teaching-learning processes. The process of installation of the Video Conferencing facility is in progress at the Campus.
During the sessions Dr. Vivek Sharma, Academic co-ordinator along with MCA faculty Suresh Singh, Deepak Gupta, Suresh Sharma, Naresh Sharma- Placement Coordinator and Pankaj Khajuria were also present.
