SRINAGAR, Jan 19: The students of Kashmir Tibia College today staged a protest alleging that the college was demanding tuition fees for the last year of their degree which, as per the students, is the internship period.
Several students in this regard were seen raising slogans, urging the administration to look into the matter so that they could take up their internship without any hurdles.
“Our degree is of 4 and half years and the last year usually remains to be that of internship, however, for that too, the college management is seeking tuition fee amounting to over one lakh from us, which is sheer injustice,” said one of the students.
The students said that they are not in a position of paying the amount and that the college has no right to demand the same.
“In this regard, the Director Ayush, J&K has denounced the move and has even written to the Government for the necessary action,” said Javaid Ahmad, another student.
They alleged that the college is threatening them that it will not allow them to take up their externship in case the students fail to deposit the sum being demanded from them.
“We urge the higher-ups in this connection to make the necessary intervention so that we could take up our internships and we carry on with our studies without any further hurdles,” they said.
