4 drug peddlers arrested; narcotics worth Rs 15.5 lakh seized

REASI, Jan 19: Continuing its drive against drug abuse, Reasi Police arrested four narcotics smugglers and recovered 4.77 kg of cannabis worth Rs 15 lakh and Heroin worth Rs 50,000 from their possession.
Reports said that team of Police Station Katra, during Naka checking at PP Nomain, stopped one swift car bearing Registration number JK14C-3967, which was coming from Jammu towards Katra. During checking, Police recovered 4.44 Kg of cannabis like substance and four grams of Heroin from the possession of two persons traveling in the car.
Police arrested both the accused, identified as Amjad Khan son of Sadiq Hussain and Mohd Ashraf alias Shongu , son of Babu, both residents of village Chamba, tehsil Katra. Case FIR number 10/2022, under section 8, 20, 21, 22, 25 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection in Police Station Katra.
Meanwhile, in Mahore area, a special surprise naka was laid at Malai Nallah by police party of Police Station Mahore. During checking of vehicles & persons crossing the naka, police noticed suspicious movement of two persons who were chased and apprehended.
During their search, 12 rolls of cannabis weighing about 430 grams, worth Rs 1.5 lakh were recovered from their possession. The accused, identified as Sunil Kumar, son of Bansi Lal of Sungal Akhnoor and Sandeep Singh son of Onkar Singh of Majalta, were arrested and the recovered cannabis was seized.
In this regard, a case FIR number 04/2022, under section 8, 20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Mahore.
