JAMMU, May 24: A mentally challenged man was arrested by the troops of Rashtriya Rifles while he was moving under mysterious circumstances close to the Line of Control in Keri sector of Rajouri district.
`’A Srinagar based man was taken into custody by the Army troops on seeing his suspicious movements near the LoC on Rajouri-Peer Badesar border road in Keri sector last night,” official sources said.
They said that during investigations it was found that he was mentally challenged and was identified as Manzoor Ahmed, son of Bilal Ahmed Sheikh, resident of Sonawar, Srinagar.
According to the statement of arrested person he was going to Jammu but reached close to the LoC. The statement was being investigated, sources said.
No incriminating material was found from his possession while a message has been flashed to the police station concerned in Srinagar for further verifications.
The man has been handed over to the police post Chingus for further investigations.
