JAMMU, Aug 26: A get-together of the Panun Kashmir (PK) delegation and the team of office bearers of All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) were held at the Headquarters of AIKS in New Delhi today. While AIKS team was headed by its president, Col. Tej Tikoo, the P K delegation was led by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, its president.
PK president, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo in his address apprised the members about the stand of his organisation regarding the issues like Art35A and Art370. He said that the Kashmir centric parties have again raised a controversy for their political survival and thus started talking about the so-called special status of the J&K State. The Art35A coupled with Art370 has been nourishing the sentiment of separation for the last several decades in the State and has been abusive of the human and fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution, he added. Chrungoo said while Art35A is in contravention of the Article 14, Article 15 and Article 16 of the Constitution of India, it has also been introduced through the back door without its reference to the Parliament for approval. The Article in question is gender biased and is retrograde, he added.
He said the Kashmiri Pandits as the indigenous people of Kashmir are the worst hit by the Article 35A which was introduced in 1954 through a promulgation of the President of India.
AIKS president, Col. (retd) Tej Tikoo said that AIKS has always been in the forefront of unification efforts of the community. This year some important projects have been taken up by the AIKS which also included organisation of “J&K Vilay Divas” in the month of October in Delhi to create awareness about the Constitutional position of J&K State. Moreover, the welfare measures that are afoot need to be coordinated with commitment and zeal which need dialogue, deliberation and occasional exchange of views among the major constituents of the politico-social activism within the community, he added.
He said there is also an imperative need to have good relations with the nationalist forces active throughout the country. He said that we are alive to the issue of Rohangyas that needs attention of the nation. “We cannot absolve the role of those politicians who were responsible for their camping in the Jammu city and its suburbs over the last 15 years’’, he added.
Prominent among others who attended the meeting included Vijay Kashkari, senior leader, Rajinder Premi, M. K. Pajan, Dileep Kaul, Vimla Chrungoo, Sunil Raina ‘Rajnath’ and Dr. Manorama. The meeting deliberated upon the issues of concern regarding the welfare of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community.
