Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘CM urged to reconsider KAS officers as Jt Directors’ DE Sept 23.
The teacher community has already expressed its reservation over the decision. The policy of appointing KAS officers as Jt Directors seems to have been framed in a hurry without taking pros and cons of the emerging situation in view.
The ill-intentioned move will certainly hit the teacher community hard.
As the meagre promotions in the department will come to a halt, it will discourage well educated people from joining the department. Education Department, it may be said here, is already facing some grave problems, appointing KAS officers as Jt Directors will give it a further blow:
Besides, it is not necessary that KAS officers are going to bring efficiency in working of department as Government expects. Rather reverse may also happen, as ‘KAS officers are not grown from the grassroot level. Any teacher who may rise to the post of Joint Director will prove an asset to the department being quite familiar with the system of right from beginning.
It is in the interest of the department if the old order prevail and new one is not implemented. It should therefore reconsider its decision.
Yours etc…
Vikas Sharma
