Suicides in society

Sir,
Refer news item ‘One commits suicide, 4 make abortive attempts’ DE Sept 23.
There seems no let up in suicide cases in the State. Hardly a day passes, when there is no such incident. The increasing suicide rate is indicative of changing complexion of society which has failed to take care of the interests of all sections of people. The situation needs to be studied by social scientists, political thinkers, religious heads and civil society members. There should be no delay in taking cognizance of this social fact. Delaying tacticts or indifferent attitude may only complicate the problem further. The Government agencies must also step in stemming the malaise which is assuming horrendous proportions. Suicide  among students is a general trend. Failing to cope with the education system, students take this ugly step. There is urgent need to make education pattern student friendly. A student should feel quiet at ease with the system, and not out of sync. Likewise, there are other social  evils which need to be eradicated from the society.
A concerted effort is to be made to overcome  this issue, that too, at the earliest.
Yours etc..
