Kargil students protest over inadequate education facilities

SRINAGAR, Feb 24:  Dozens of students from Kargil today staged protests here against the Government for neglecting the education sector in the region.
Blaming the Government for its failure to upgrade the infrastructure in schools and colleges in the region, the angry students said they have to compromise in the 21th century for choosing their subjects due to limited choices to study at higher education.
They lambasted the Government for their failure to provide quality education to the students of Kargil at their native place and termed it as violation of ‘Right to Education.’
The students also alleged that at the time of admission in colleges or applying for hostel facility in other parts of the state, they are subjected to the mental and physical torture by the concerned authorities.
Protesting under the banner of All Kargil (Ladakh) Student Union, Kashmir (AKSUK), the students also demanded a Medical College for the division.
