Karan Singh favours Rahul’s stand on ordinance

NEW DELHI, Sep 28: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Karan Singh came out in favour of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s blunt denouncement of the controversial ordinance on convicted lawmakers.
“I welcome the youth taking over the party and I definitely welcome what Rahul has said because many of us felt that the whole concept of the bill itself and then of the ordinance was improper or not appropriate,” Singh said.
Government sources indicated today that a meeting of the Union Cabinet to deliberate on the Ordinance is likely to take place on October 3 or 4.
An indication about the likely fate of the Ordinance was available when Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said that Gandhi expressed the view of many many people in the party, obviously suggesting that the Government should have a “re-look” into it.
“So the fact that he came out so strongly against it, I think is a very good sign and it shows that our vitality is still intact and it’s not only the youth, very seniors members also I think felt that it was not proper. So hence I welcome Rahul’s take on it,” said Singh.
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit also supported Rahul.
“Many people were sceptical about this ordinance. So he must have heard the same thing and expressed his anguish. The questions people were asking why is this discrimination taking place. I think he was truthful to himself,” said Dikshit. (PTI)
