Kalhan Koul’s Poetry

Sir,
This is in response to the news item titled “Samprati brings Kalhan Koul to fore” dated 22nd April, 2014 read with article of Adarsh Ajit titled “Kalhan Koul’s poetry: nastolgia at its peak” dated 6th April 2014. The undersigned being a social worker and a keen student of Kashmiri literature happen to be in touch with Kalhan Koul and his poetry from last some years. I know his writings are wonderful in substance.
By mere chance, undersigned was also present in the “Rouboru” programme organized by Samprati on 20th April, 2014 wherein Kalhan Koul recited some of his Gazals and Nazams. It was a delight for all the audience to listen such a kind of versatile poetry. The Gazals were not only technically sound but mind blowing in the content. The Nazams were rich in concept and the poet touched  the heights. It was more than refreshing and satisfactory for a literature lover like me. There was a critical debate on the works of  Kalhal Koul and almost 8 to 10 renowned poets/writers participated but to my surprise none of them had a real critical line to raise against the rich works of Kalhan Koul. In fact all the analysts praised the poet to the hilt.
Yours etc…
