KATHUA, Jan 18: A Government depot dealer was arrested for misappropriation in distribution of kerosene oil meant for public distribution in village Mehrajpur, falling under the jurisdiction of Rajbagh police station.
According to SDPO Border, Diwakar Singh, a Sarpanch namely Chann Lal Din lodged a complaint that Government depot dealer identified as Sansar Chand, son of Sansar Chand of Mehrajpur distributed only 1 litre of kerosene oil inspite of 5 litres, as allocated by the Government per family.
The complainant further stated that the dealer also made forged entries into the record, he added.
Acting accordingly, a case under FIR number 7/15 under Section 3/7 Essential Commodities Act and 409 RPC was registered and investigation started, SDPO stated.
He informed that a police team led by SHO Rajbagh police station SI Sachinder Pal and Magistrate visited the depot and found the complaint by the Sarpanch true. On checking the records, the team found that the accused had forged the entries also.
The Government depot dealer was arrested and a total of 440 litres of kerosene oil was seized from his possession, which the accused was trying to sale illegally to gain illegitimate profits.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
