JAMMU, July 22: Jammu Welfare Committee in its meeting here today held under the chairmanship of Kasturi Lal Gupta discussed various problems of the inhabitants of Roop Nagar and Bantlalab.
The meeting demanded direct transport service from Roop Nagar and Bantalab to Parade, Railway Station Gandhi Nagar and Satwari and Bari Brahmana as the people have to change two three mini buses in reaching these places when the distance is from 10 to 20 kilometres.
This way a lot of time of the people is wasted and it also puts an extra financial burden on them. Some times in emergency people hiring three wheelers have to pay exorbitant charges.
A delegation of the Committee led by Mr Gupta and its general secretary Gopal Krishen and others called also met the Minister of Transport and CAPD, Ch Mohammed Ramzan and apprised him of the problem. The Minister asked the RTO to take immediate action in the matter who in turn urged Anil Chopra president Mini Bus Union to start mini bus service in the area and three mini buses were started but the same is not sufficient and more mini buses needs to be started.
