JAMMU, Oct 13: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today held a protest dharna on Amphalla-Janipur Road at New Plot for the failure of the traffic police to solve the traffic problem in Jammu city, particularly on Janipur, Talab Tillo and Jammu-Akhnoor Roads.
Addressing the protestors, Sunil Dimple, JWAM president, demanded Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to reshuffle the whole traffic police of Jammu, as all the traffic department is unable to regulate the traffic in the Jammu city and most of the cops are involved in unfair means due to which corruption in the traffic department is on the highest level.
He demanded Chief Minister to start the construction of the flyovers at Rehari Chungi, Jewel Chowk and make small parking spots along all the roads in whole Jammu West constituency. He further demanded construction of alternative four-way circular road from Amphalla (Manda) to Bantalab via High Court and from Jewel Chowk to Talab Tillo via Bhagwati Nagar to ease the increasing traffic on Amphalla-Bantalab Road. He also urged the CM for the widening of Jammu-Akhnoor Road.
Dimple alleged that instead of constructing flyovers and ring roads to ease traffic, the general public is being harassed by lifting their vehicles and challaning them while business community is being tormented by demolishing sun shades of their shops, which is no solution to control the traffic.
He also stressed for starting of Metro Rail and Mono Rail projects to solve the traffic problem faced by the people of Jammu city. He accused the sitting MLAs and MPs of the BJP for not taking up the matter of constructing of flyovers with CM and Deputy CM..
