JAMMU, Sept 6: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today held a protest against PDD and PHE Department for imposing long duration power cuts and improper water supplies in Jammu.
Activists of JWAM led by their president, Sunil Dimple today assembled at New Plot on Janipur, High Court Road and raised slogans against PDD and PHE Department. They alleged that people of the constituency are facing acute scarcity of power and drinking water for last one month.
Addressing the protesters, Sunil Dimple alleged that the PDD Ministry is harassing the people of Jammu region by charging huge electric tariff from Jammu region despite imposing long duration power cuts. Dimple alleged the most of the transformers installed are unable to carry the load and once damaged they are not replaced for days together.
He said in is very unfortunate though the PDD is harassing the people of Jammu region by imposing fine and disconnecting connections while no such drive is being conducted in Kashmir region though electric consumption in Kashmir is more than Jammu region and revenue collected in the form of electric tariff is very less in comparison to Jammu region.
“It is very unfortunate that the issue of return of power projects to the State figured in PDP-BJP’s agenda of alliance, no power projects has been returned to the State”, Dimple said and alleged that Government never took up the matter of return of power projects with the Central Government and is only squeezing the blood of Jammu people.
Alleging that Janipur grid station is 30 years old and has become totally defunct, he demanded fresh and new installation of the 50 MWT receiving grid station at Janipur.
