JAMMU, Sept 14: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today held a protest demonstration over pathetic condition of patient care facilities in Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu.
Addressing the protesting activists, Sunil Dimple (president JWAM) said that GMC Jammu is on ventilator itself and the patients are badly suffering for lack of adequate treatment. Due to lack of medical oxygen, the patient care has been badly affected in GMC as well as its Associated Hospitals.
“Patients suffering from heart diseases, cancer, kidney ailments, severe pneumonia patients are worst affected due to lack of medical oxygen in these hospitals,” he said, adding, patients are dying due to negligence of doctors and lack of oxygen and to escape from taking responsibility, they are being wrongly declared as COVID-19.
Dimple said that the Central Government is supplying 50 Ton oxygen to UP (Uttar Pradesh) every day but not supplying adequate oxygen to GMCs of Jammu Kashmir in spite of hue and cries. Dimple said the Central BJP announced 8 new AIIMS hospitals in UP in 2016 and all are functional but in Jammu AIIMS is no where in sight after its announcement in 2016.
He alleged there is acute shortage of the “rapid testing kits” in Jammu region for Corona testing. He demanded to start random tests of Corona door to door in the UT. He further said that there is shortage of functional ventilators in hospitals of Jammu region.
