JAMMU, Dec 11: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today threatened to gherao Civil Secretariat if kerosene oil, sugar and ration supplies are not restored soon.
A score of JWAM activists under the leadership of their president, Sunil Dimple, today held a protest against non-availability of atta, rice and sugar in Government depots, here at New Plot on Janipur road.
Addressing the protesting people, Sunil Dimple said that almost all the ration depots in the State are dry for last three months. There is no atta and sugar while kerosene oil has also not been provided for last six months. He alleged the Government ration is being openly black marketed by the CAPD officials and demanded inquiry into the matter.
He also launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti against rising prices of the essential commodities in the State and country and total failure in controlling the price of LPG, which has reached to Rs 800 per cylinder.
He further slammed the Government for failing to control the prices of vegetables like onion and tomato, which are being sold at about Rs 65 per kg and Rs 70 per kg, respectively. He demanded the Government to import onion and tomatoes from other countries.
Dimple served 72 hours ultimatum to the CAPD Minister Zulfkar Ali and the Directorate of CAPD to restore supply of kerosene oil and ration within 72 hours in Jammu city and control the prices of essential commodities.
