JAMMU, Feb 27: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today held a strong protest at Janipur High Court Road against Union Health Minister, JP Nadda and his ministry for their failure in checking spread of swine flu in the State.
The protest was led by JWAM president, Sunil Dimple. A large number of residents of the West constituency joined the protest. Carrying banners in their hands, the protestors raised slogans against the Union Health Minister and Union Government for failing to control the spread of deadly H1N1 virus.
Addressing the protesters, Sunil Dimple alleged that Union Health Ministry and the State Health Department have completely failed to control the disease, which is spreading fastly in the State and in Jammu region.
He said the hospitals are over loaded with the patients but the GMC, and all other district hospitals, PHCS, have no medicines and swine flu kits and now our paramedical staff is also becoming the victim of this swine flu.
Sunil Dimple demanded the Union Health Minister to immediately supply the swine flu kits, medicines and one crore masks to the State, which have become very costlier in the market and are being sold in black by the hoarders.
Dimple alleged that the poor patients are being compelled to go to the private nursing homes as there are no medicines in the GMC, Government hospitals and in different district hospitals of the Jammu region.
He said that the Director Health and GMC administration have become helpless to deal with the situation in absence of the shortage of the medicines, personal protective kits and the other drugs required in the treatment.
Dimple also demanded cash compensation for all those who lost their lives due to swine flu.
