KISHTWAR, Feb 27: A meeting of Saffron Development Committee (SDC) was held at village Pochhal Kishtwar today under the chairmanship of Ajeet Bhagat.
During the meeting the farmers stressed that besides allocation of Rs 3.22 crore for National Saffron Mission was sanctioned by the Union Government for rejuvenation and upliftment of Saffron trade which is deteriorating day by day.
The meeting alleged that for the last one decade not even a single penny was spent by the Saffron Department and Agriculture Department in district Kishtwar. The project is left at the mercy of God.
The speakers urged the Government to pay the farmers on the pattern of Kashmir valley norms as the crop/ product is of the same importance.
