JWAM holds protest against State Budget

JAMMU, Feb 14: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today held a strong protest against the State Budget 2014-15 presented by Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather, terming it directionless and a zerox copy of the previous five budgets, presented by the Coalition Government.
The activists of JWAM assembled at Janipur-High Court Road, held demonstration against the State Budget and burnt its copies shouting anti-Government slogans.
They alleged that the State Budget presented by Finance Minister has disappointed the people of the State particularly Jammuites as it has totally ignored the winter capital Jammu city and all the dream projects of PDD, PHE, Traffic problems, flyovers did not find any place in it.
JWAM president, Sunil Dimple, condemned the Government for presenting a directionless budget where there is no provision to control the rising prices, no mention of Union Government’s Food Security Bill, no increase in quota of ration and kerosene oil and no allocation of funds for improving traffic scenario  in the City of Temples.
He demanded the Government to review the budget and abolish VAT totally on eatables like atta, rice, dal and essential commodities like medicines. He also stressed for exempting the VAT and sale tax on the sale of the LPG Gas, petrol, diesel and kerosene oil besides including in the budget, the implementation of the Food Security Bill in the State.
Dimple also urged the Chief Minister and the Finance Minister to withdraw the new recruitment policy of the Government and make special provision for the unemployed youth in the budget.
