JWAM demands scrapping of IWT

JAMMU, Aug 8: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) has demanded scrapping of Indus Water Treaty (IWT) with Pakistan.
In a press conference here today JWAM president, Sunil Dimple said that 60 years old treaty should be scrapped and waters of rivers Chenab and Jehlum should be used for our own agricultural, power projects and for other developmental activities here.
He said that Prime Minister Modi should get the canals constructed to divert the waters of Chenab and Jehlum from going to Pakistan to different villages, towns and others States of India.
He also demanded making Jammu a separate state with special status and said that an agitation for separate Jammu State with special status will start soon.
Dimple said that PM Modi should end all bilateral relations with Pakistan and scrap Indus Water Treaty.
JWAM leader alleged that two BJP MPs and 25 Ex-MLAs are responsible for the demotion of Jammu region.
