KARGIL, June 23: The last day of action packed weeklong legal services activities initiated in UT of Ladakh by Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur, Judge, High Court of J&K and Executive Chairman, Ladakh Legal Services Authority witnessed another significant inauguration of TLSC, Drass, a tourist hub for its high altitude, which is often called as “The Gateway to Ladakh”.
Justice Thakur stated that this campaign has been launched to transform Ladakh Legal Services Authority into an efficient, result oriented and one of the best Legal Services Authority in the country. Underscoring the need of TLSC, Justice Thakur said that these institutions have an important role to play in providing legal services and creating legal awareness so as to ensure that the rights of poor or the ones with meagre economic resources are protected.
With the opening of TLSC at Drass, district Kargil of Ladakh UT will now have three TLSCs including TLSCs Sankoo and Zanskar.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Thakur stated that the TLSC Drass will not only facilitate legal services but will ensure that the underprivileged who are unable to afford the services of an advocate for the conduct of a case or a legal proceeding in the court are imparted free legal services.
Earlier on his arrival at Drass, Justice Thakur was welcomed by Mohammad Rafiq Chak, Pr District & Sessions Judge Kargil who is also Chairman DLSA Kargil & by Deldan Angmo, Munsiff Drass. M K Sharma, Member Secretary is also accompanying the Executive Chairman in this weeklong campaign.
