Justice Rabstan for speedy disposal of pending cases

LEH, June 19:  Justice Tashi Rabstan (Administrative Judge of Leh) in his ongoing visit to Leh division today conducted an inspection of the court of Principal District & Sessions Judge, Leh and Court of Sub-Judge/Chief Judicial Magistrate, Leh.
Justice Rabstan directed the Judicial Officers for speedy disposal of the old pending cases. He also had interaction with the Bar Members of Leh as well as the court staff and also visited the court premises. The Bar members informed Justice that the library fund released is insufficient and requested for releasing more funds for the purchase of computers. The members also requested to open a filing counter in district court for filing case pertaining to High Court.
Meanwhile, Justice Rabstan chaired a meeting with the district administration and district judiciary to discuss establishment of Old Age Recreation Centre (OARC) in Leh in the presence of the Divisional Commissioner, Ladakh, Saugat Biswas.
The meeting was attended by Avny Lawasa, Deputy Commissioner, Leh, R.S. Jasrotia, Principal District and Session Judge, Leh, Spalzes Angmo, Secretary DLSA, Leh, S.E. PWD, CMO, Leh, Medical Superintendent-SNM Hospital Leh, District Social Welfare Officer, CPO, Leh and concerned executive engineers.
Addressing the meeting, Justice Rabstan mentioned about the Government scheme for welfare of senior citizens as per Rule 17, Section 19 Act. He pointed out the need to establish an Old Age Home in Leh. He informed about such recreational centers for senior citizens being established in Srinagar and Jammu. He urged Divisional Commissioner and DC, Leh to plan out on similar pattern to establish such center for senior citizens in Leh with facilities including health check-ups, physiotherapy, counseling, library, reading room, indoor games, recreational activities, legal act services and basic computer learning.
Justice Rabstan informed that a sanctioned amount has been earmarked for this scheme with post creation for required staff. He instructed that as per guidelines the Recreation Centre has to be located within the premise of SNM Hospital with good living area. He said that the centre will have the benefit of attending to the problems and grievances of senior citizens related to their pension case and other documentation issues through the Legal Act Service provided to them within the centre with a Legal Service Authority representative stationed there.
He said that it would be a one roof place to solve their family and other social issues.
