SRINAGAR, June 14: Justice Ali Mohammad Magray, Judge of High Court of J&K, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
The Governor discussed with Justice Magray issues relating to the more effective functioning of the sub-ordinate judicial system and the steps, which are required to be taken for ensuring transparent and speedy delivery of justice.
Imran Raza Ansari, Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services & Sports also met Governor and briefed him about the functioning of various departments under his charge and the preparations which are underway for organizinga mega Sports Carnival in the State; the plan to transform the Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar into a state-of-art international football Stadium; and establishing village clubs for enabling youth to engage in sports and related activities.
Governor advised Ansari to launch a well planned programme for sports and games competitions taking place in each of the 22 districts through the year. He also suggested to the Minister that the Sports Department should also organise State and Inter-State level Championships in identified sports and games to provide the youth to advance their skills.
Abdul Rashid Dar, former Chairman of Legislative Council discussed with the Governor issues relating to the proper growth and development of district Anantnag and the adjoining areas in South Kashmir and several matters concerning the periodic upsurge in Kashmir Valley.
Governor urged Dar to continue sustained efforts for promoting a peaceful environment which would be conducive for the development and welfare of the people of Kashmir and particularly asked him to energise the civil society in his area to promote the interests of students at all levels and protect them from getting involved in non-academic activities.
Abdul Khalik Bhat, President, Shiv Sena (Hindustan), Kashmir also met Governor and informed him about the activities of his organisation.
Governor advised Bhat to take all possible steps for promoting a peaceful environment in the Valley.
