Junk food

Sir,
These days children are so fond of the fast food that ‘fast food restaurants’ are mushrooming in cities, towns and even villages and doing brisk business.Fast food items such as burgers, momos, noodles, spring rolls, pizza, etc are preferred because they can be prepared in no time and they are spicy and mouthwatering. But the children and the youth addictive to fast food donot know the ill effects of the fast food to which they may be exposed .Fast food may cause weakness and fatigue in children as the fast food or the junk food lacks in vital nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals, dietry fibre etc.Being loaded with fats and oils, fast food or junk food may also cause obesity in children and heart and liver disorders in those consume it.As a result of undesirable weight gain, children are likely to develop low self esteem which, sometimes, may lead to depression.Fast food affects intestines and may cause constipation as it is loaded with heavy spices. It may also lead to malnutrition as it is wanting in essential nutritional elements.
Therefore, children need to be prevented from becoming addicted to fast food. They must also be encouraged to eat homecooked food, fresh fruits and vegetables so that they can develop into physically fit and mentally alert individuals. Parents too should avoid taking fast food and shouldn’t mind preparing different tasty dishes catering to the taste of children to attract them to the homecooked food. Efforts also need to be made to develop in them a liking and taste for drinks such as milk, lassi, lemonade, fruit juice etc which are rich source of minerals and vitamins.
Yours etc….,
