JAMMU, Aug 18: Member Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma and former Member Legislative Council (MLC), Ch. Vikram Randhawa, visited rain affected areas of Gandhi Nagar Assembly segment and took stock of the damages occurred due to heavy rainfall there.
The places they visited include Beli Charana, Bhour Camp and Bhour Kothey. Both the leaders during their visit to the area assessed the damage occurred, due to heavy rainfall, to the public property as well as personal property of the people. During their tour they found a bridge connecting Bhour Kothey to Bhour Camp badly damaged and issued necessary instructions to the officials of the PWD (R&B), who were accompanying them, for immediate repair of the same.
The leaders also assured the people of the area that they and administration is taking all preventive measures to minimize the losses but no one can prevent such damages due to natural calamities. They said that necessary instructions have been issued to the concerned authorities for repair of all the damages at earliest so that the inhabitants of the area do not suffer.
They also appealed the public in general not to encroach upon flood channels and natural waterways like nallahs and khads so that rain water passes off smoothly without causing any damage to the private and public properties.
They also urged the authorities to ensure strong embankments of all nallahs in the area to preventing flooding residential areas which can cause huge damage to the private properties of the people.
Those who accompanied the BJP leaders include Naresh Sharma, Bharat Bhushan Mandal Pradhan, Bharat Sharma, Hardev Singh, Avtar Chib, Ramesh Kumar, Prithvi Singh, Sanjeev Chib and others.
