JAMMU, May 13: A deputation led by MP Jugal Kishore Sharma  including MLC  Charanjit Singh Khalsa, Nand Kishore Sharma, Karan Dutt, Mohan Lal Mengi (Sarpanch), Balwant Singh called on Defence Minister at New Delhi today to apprise him of the hardships being faced by the people who are residents since times immemorial adjoining the defense depots at Jindrah, Kanyala, Kah-Pota, Nagrota etc.
The deputationists submitted a memorandum to the Defence Minister and conveyed the difficulties which they face through the hands of  defence authorities. They said the people in this belt cannot raise any construction or reconstruct or renovate their traditional dwellings in the vicinity of Ordinance Depots and thereby are leading a very hard and inconvenient life. They had number of times requested the defence authorities to assist them financially so that they stand compensated suitably. They being the citizens of India are entitled to live safely in a convenient and conducive atmosphere for their up keep and upbringing of their young members.
Defence Minister Manohar Parikar assured the delegation that the matter will be considered at the appropriate forum and suitable action will be definitely taken. He expressed his pleasure at being informed about the problems people faced who live in around cantonments area.
