JAMMU, Mar 26: UT Level Consultative Committee meeting was held here, today under the chairmanship of Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha.
While addressing a meeting, he said that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has worked hard to provide free ration to the people in COVID times by way of launching the premier scheme Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY).
He appreciated the role of FCI and FCS&CA for implementation of scheme by way of providing the timely ration to the needy people. He said that both the departments are working hard collectively to serve the people and to improve upon this. The meeting of the UT Level Consultative Committee has been held so that the distribution system can be monitored and suggestions for smooth functioning can be sought so that every beneficiary should get timely ration with good food quality.
MP further said that quality of food grains should be maintained so that last man in the last queue should be provided best quality ration in proper time. He added that it is our responsibility to improve nutrition quality of every citizen all over the country. MP took the note of suggestions and the points highlighted by the members presents in the meeting and directed General Manger FCI and both the Directors of FCS&CA from Jammu and Kashmir and the staff to work on them immediately so that the supply chain system can be improved upon and timely ration can be provided to the people.
Jugal also put an emphasis on creation of smaller storage capacities in far flung areas so that no scarcity of ration should be faced because of road blockages and other issues.
MP further examined procurement operations being carried out in the UT and impressed upon to improve the system so that no distress sale should happen in the UT of J&K. The General Manager FCI read vote of thanks.
