JAMMU, Sept 17: To brief BJP State President Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament, about the sufferings and the losses of the people in Akhnoor and elsewhere, a group of prominent public activists from Sangrampur, Chanjwa, Bakore, Garhi, Setreyal, Muthi Mera, Devipur, Samah nallah, Bomal, Kot Garhi, called on him at Party Headquarters here today.
They said that as their areas are situated adjacent and near the banks of river Chenab and flash floods washed away every thing putting the people to a heavy loss and now they have no means of sustenance.
They demanded that their losses be assessed at the earliest and in the meantime adequate relief be provided to the affected people.
Jugal Kishore Sharma informed them that the Party is fully seized of their sufferings, plight and the destruction caused due to the floods not only in their areas but of all the different parts of the State.
He said being elected MP from Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency he is more concerned for the people and the areas of his constituency. He said that it is matter of satisfaction that since day one the Union Government came into action and took lead in reaching the affected areas and pressing all the means for this.
Meanwhile, describing the post floods situation in twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch as alarming, BJP senior leader and Rajouri-Poonch Incharge Kuldeep Raj Gupta demanded special package as the people have suffered enormously due to heavy rains and the resultant flash floods.
Kuldeep Raj Gupta, while addressing media persons along with BJP State Spokesperson Dr. Suresh Magotra, said that the people in almost entire belt of Rajouri and Poonch districts have suffered a lot as over one hundred people have died, thousands were rendered homeless, crops totally destroyed, roads have been washed away, means of communication badly affected and people passing nights under open skies due to discrimination in distribution of relief material.
Gupta, while charging the administration of working on pick and choose manner at the dictates of some leaders of NC and Congress, said that there is massive anger and resentment among the affected families.
