REASI, Mar 15: Former Minister and senior Congress leader, Jugal Kishore today asked the party workers to gear up their activities in view of coming elections.
Addressing workers’ meeting held at Pouni in district Reasi today, Jugal Kishore appealed to the party workers to extend their activities in their respective areas in view of Parliamentary elections and make people aware of the present government. He told the party workers to reach each and every corner of the block and tell people that nothing has been done by the BJP Government and only `jumlas’ have been made.
Launching a blistering attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for hoodwinking innocent people of the State by making false promises and assurances before the last Lok Sabha and Assembly polls, he said that the BJP had always been using sensitive issues like Article 370 to gain political mileage and to flare up the public sentiment. He said that the BJP it seems to have sold the trust of the people by asking them to forget its core issues like abrogation of Article 370.
Sharma said that BJP has always betrayed the trust of the people particularly that of Jammu as it has the habit of raking up issues when in opposition and completely ignoring them while assuming power adding that it is what they (BJP) did in J&K as well as at the Centre. “BJP shelved its core issue of abrogating Article 370 to appease J&K people while its promise of bringing back black money stashed in foreign banks within hundred days of assuming power at the Centre is yet to be fulfilled. It did not get back a single pie even after completing its term of five years in office,” Jugal Kishore said.
Sharma further said that people of the state especially Jammuites feel cheated by the opportunistic politics of BJP as it befooled them on one pretext or the other.
Several people joined Congress on the occasion. All the new entrants were welcomed into the party fold by Jugal Kishore and others.
