Singh said that a 42-year-old pregnant lady from Sunetar area of Ramnagar was admitted to American Oncology at Batra Hospital. “She was operated but was detected COVID positive along with three other patients from different localities. Her condition started deteriorating, but was not provided the required medical facilities like ICU despite the fact that Oncology Hospital Authorities contacted Director Health Jammu, CMO Jammu, Superintendent GMC, Deputy Commissioner Jammu and Raj Bhawan Jammu for shifting her to GMC–the designated COVID Level 1 Hospital in Jammu”, Singh added.
Singh informed that the lady was in dire need of ICU so that her precious life could be saved. The doctor, who was Head Oncology Unit of American Oncology Hospital, had sent repeated mails to all above mentioned officers but none of them paid heed and unfortunately the lady died yesterday, Singh said.
All the persons present in the press conference demanded judicial probe into the whole incident so that responsibility can be fixed.
Singh requested the authorities to look into the matter of referral of COVID-19 positive pregnant patients at the time of their delivery.
“COVID-19 positive cases like trauma and delivery should be dealt at their respective District Hospitals or near by Government Medical Colleges of Rajouri, Doda and Kathua districts. It becomes the moral duty of the Government to save precious lives at the time of delivery”, Singh stated.
