JAMMU, May 18: J&K People’s Democratic Trade Union has appealed the Jammu University to either start all streams in Distance Education or  lift the ban imposed on other universities for providing education to the prospective candidates,  particularly teachers.
In a statement,   JKPDTU district president Jasmeet Singh Madaan expressed reservations over JU  ban on gaining education  from other universities and at the same time taking no initiative to open more streams in Distance Education, particularly in Science, Statistics, EVS etc for the prospective in-service candidates, particularly teachers who want to pursue higher education to gain promotion.
He urged the Chancellor  N N Vohra either to rescind the ban order and allow other universities to operate in J&K or expand the scope of  JU Distance Education in all streams so  that nobody is debarred to pursue higher education in any field.
Mr Jasmeet also urged the IGNOU and  Maulana Abdul Kalam University authorities to  expand their network and  open the vistas of education in all the streams so that all the prospective candidates can get education.
