JU Syndicate gives nod for various academic, administrative matters

JAMMU, Sept 15: The 117th meeting of the Syndicate of University of Jammu was held today under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor JU, Prof Manoj Kumar Dhar, during which various academic and administrative matters were discussed and accorded nod.
The Syndicate in principle agreed to establish Department of Foreign Languages and office for International Affairs at JU. Syndicate endorsed the adoption of policy document of Industry-Academia Partnership Centre and Norms Governing Industry-Academia Partnership Centre in the University. The syndicate endorsed the start and affiliation of new Medical Colleges and paramedical and nursing Courses in Govt Medical Colleges. Start of MA Five Years Integrated Programme was also endorsed by the members.
Members also applauded the adoption of statutes for four years integrated BA B Ed/ B Sc B Ed and three years integrated B Ed M Ed programmes. Syndicate adopted scheme and statutes for M A Education programme (self-financing) to be offered by the Directorate of Distance Education from the academic session 2021-22. It was also endorsed to start three months Skill Development Course in Bakery and Confectionary at Udhampur Campus with the objective for the betterment of the local community, developing entrepreneurship skills and creating income-generating activities.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Manoj Dhar informed the members that in view of glorious achievements of India in Tokyo Olympics, the University is proposing to name its Gymnasium Hall after ace shuttler P V Sindhu and same was endorsed by members of the University Syndicate.
Earlier, in his opening remarks, Prof Dhar extended a warm welcome to Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary/Financial Commissioner (Financial Adviser, Universities) and Sushma Chauhan, Secretary, Higher Education, J&K for their wholehearted support in various activities of the University. Prof Dhar also extended a warm welcome to all the newly appointed members of the Syndicate, particularly Prof J P Pandey, Vice-Chancellor, Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur; Prof Chandra Bhushan Sharma, School of Education, IGNOU, New Delhi and Prof Sunita Singh SenGupta, Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi.
Prof Arvind Jasrotia, Registrar JU presented 82 items in the meeting. Giving nod to the various agenda items, Syndicate also confirmed the minutes of the 116th meeting of the University Syndicate.
The Syndicate meeting was attended by Prof Jasbir Singh, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences; Prof Rajkumar Rampal, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences; Prof Nazir Ahmed, Dean School of Business Studies, KU; Prof Nahida Tabassum, Dean, School of Applied Sciences & Technologies, KU, and Prof Yasmeen Kawoos.
