JU signs MoU with NIELIT for IT education, digital empowerment

JAMMU, Dec 13: The Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu & National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) J&K, today formalized a significant institutional collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of a NIELIT-J&K Study Centre (NJKSC) at the Udhampur Campus of JU.
The MoU was signed by Dr Neeraj Sharma, Registrar JU and Ashaq Hussain Dar, Director-in-Charge, NIELIT J&K. The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Prof Yash Pal Sharma, Rector, Udhampur Campus; Rajneesh Raina, Officer-in-Charge, NIELIT Jammu; Sarita Kour, Joint Director (Technical); and Lokesh Dogra, Technical Officer.
As per the provisions of the MoU, the Udhampur Campus located at the village Garnai Lotta, Udhampur, shall provide dedicated built-up space and essential supporting amenities while as NIELIT J&K will be responsible for operationalizing and managing the Study Centre.
The NIELIT-J&K Study Centre will offer a broad spectrum of training and capacity-building programmes, including NIELIT O/A/B/C Level courses, NSQF-aligned courses, digital literacy programmes (CCC/BCC), Future Skills training, internships/industrial training, and specialized awareness programmes on Digital Payments, Cyber Security, and e-Waste Management. Short-term customised programmes and Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) will also be conducted under this collaboration.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashaq Hussain Dar opined that the establishment of this Study Centre is expected to significantly benefit the residents of Udhampur district and adjoining areas, particularly students, youth, NGOs, working professionals, and Government employees, by providing high-quality IT education, digital skilling opportunities, and employment-oriented training within the district itself.
Prof Yash Pal Sharma said that this collaboration reflects the shared commitment of NIELIT J&K and the University of Jammu to expand access to technology-driven education, enhance skill development, and support national objectives in the domains of Digital India, capacity building, and inclusive growth.
