JU organises conference on ‘Microscopy & Advances in Material Sciences’

JAMMU, Mar 2: The “National Conference on Microscopy & Advances in Material Sciences (NCMAMS-2015), organised by Department of Physics & Electronics, University of Jammu, commenced here today.
This conference is organized in association with Electron Microscopy Society of India-North Zone Chapter and the UGC-SAP programme of the department.  The conference aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and research scholars of the country working in the area of advances in materials and microscopy.
In his  presidential address, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. R.D. Sharma said that Deptt of Physics & Electronics is one of the icons of the University and it is a matter of pride that every faculty in the Deptt is organising academic activities  which in turn is surely benefitting the students and the Scholars as well.
The chief guest on the occasion Dr. K. Muraleedharan, President EMSI and Director, DRDO ( Technical) at Head-quarter, Delhi addressed the audience with his enlightened words. Prof. R.P. Tondon, President, EMSI, North Zone Chapter and the guest of honour on the occasion talked about the associations of the conference. Prof. Vikram Kumar ex-director NPL Delhi, special guest threw light on the ongoing research activities of India. .  In response to the submission of large number of abstracts for this conference, dignitaries on the dias also released the abstracts booklet.
Earlier Prof. K.K. Bamzai, Convener of the conference, introduced the gathering to the theme of the conference and the national personalities participating in it.  Prof. Vivek K Gupta, HoD Department of Physics & Electronics talked about the department and the activities going on in the department.  The vote of thanks was offered by Dr. Deepa Singh.
Among others Faculty of the Dept, delegates, scholars, students were also present on the occasion.
