JAMMU, Sept 9: The University of Jammu today formally launched the new Online Registration Return System, designed to procure the relevant information about candidates who have enrolled in the 1st Semester in the UG Programmes in its affiliated colleges.
At a simple function, the Vice Chancellor, Prof M P S Ishar inaugurated the system which is designed to collect relevant registration information about students through the internet.
This programme, which has been custom-built by the Centre for Information Technology Enabled Services & Management (CITESM) for the Examination Wing of the University, is designed to collect information in an error-free manner and is built to capture photographs as well as scanned signatures. It is intended that the manner and form in which this information is captured will eliminate many processes that are still done manually.
This programme was necessitated by the fact that the University of Jammu has finally implemented the semester system in the Three Year Undergraduate programme and since examinations will be held every six months contrary to annual examinations, the entire process needed to be accelerated. The present programme is designed to speed and eliminate many processes that slowed down the process or introduced errors, so that examinations are carried out swiftly and in an error free manner.
The Vice Chancellor entrusted this responsibility to a taskforce headed by Prof Dipankar Sengupta and comprising Guneet Singh Sudan, the Incharge Director, CITESM, Dr Ravinder Tickoo of GGM Science College, Vinod Parihar, and Archana Sharma.
Earlier Centre for IT Enabled Services & Mgmt has also devised online GP Fund facility for the teaching faculty and officers of the University of Jammu. Today this facility was also extended to the non-teaching employees of the University of Jammu.
