JU holds Inter-Collegiate Tournaments in Badminton, Boxing, Kho-Kho

JAMMU, Oct 15: The Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, has launched its 2025–26 sports season with a series of exciting Inter-Collegiate Tournaments in Badminton, Boxing and Kho-Kho, aimed at promoting fitness, teamwork, and competitive spirit among students.
The Inter-Collegiate Badminton tournaments for men and women kicked off at the University Gymnasium Hall, with notable wins including UIET Kathua, Dogra Degree College, JIAR Jammu, GDC Mendhar, GDC Doda, ASCOMS Jammu, MBS College and PG Department JU in the men’s category, all securing 2–0 victories over their opponents.
In the women’s category, GCW Udhampur, Dogra Law College, Dogra Degree College, JIAR Jammu, and GCW Parade dominated their matches, also with 2–0 set wins. The Boxing tournament saw intense competition across weight categories, with Muhammad Zahir (GDC Poonch), Vishal Jabotra (GDC Kunjwani), Keshav Sharma (GDC Poonch), S.V. Singh (PG Department), Sandeep Singh (GDC Kashtigarh), Veer Baaz Ali (GDC Udhampur), Dev Rudra Jamwal (GDC Jindra), Gurmar Singh (GDC Kunjwani), Sameer Khan (GDC Rajouri), Ankit Sani (PG Department), Nitin Kumar (GDC Rajouri), Adnan Farooq (GDC Doda), and Washik Zaheer registering victories.
Meanwhile, the Women’s Kho-Kho tournament at the University ground featured spirited performances with GDC Kathua, GDC Doda, GCW Udhampur, GDC Ramnagar and PG Department JU emerging victorious in their respective matches. These events, officiated and supervised by experienced referees and dignitaries, reflect the University’s strong commitment under the leadership of Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba to fostering holistic student development through sportsmanship and competitive excellence.
