JU Class-IV employees continue token strike

JAMMU, July 12: Continuing with their six-hour token strike, the agitating Class-IV employees in Jammu University suspended their  duties on Tuesday and held a  strong protest demonstration in front of the Old Administration Block on the campus.
They raised slogans in support of their demands and staged a dharna, which was organized under the banner of Non-Gazetted Employees Union, University of Jammu.
The protesting employees are demanding removal of 2750 Grade, cancellation of order on disengagement of eight employees of Human Genetics Centre, creation of posts of different categories of Class-IV and releasing of salary of Helpers as per Kashmir University.
The NGEU leaders urged the JU Safaikaramcharis  not to work before 9.30 a.m and after 10 a.m in the campus
The protesting employees, led by NGEU president Vijay Kumar,  also took out a march in the campus and closed the university main gate
Vijay Kumar urged  the Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor to intervene into the matter and direct the JU authorities for conceding their demands.
Meanwhile,  ABVP president,  Jammu University,  Lokinder Singh held a press conference and urged the Vice-Chancellor to settle the issue pertaining to the agitating Class-IV employees.
“These  non gazetted employees of Jammu University are on constant strike since 22nd June and this is severely impacting the general scenario of university as admission process in various departments is on,” he said and added that hostel mess remains closed during lunch time since the day one of the strike with the result that scholars and  students of  JU are  forced to go outside for food.
Lokinder Singh  urged the  Vice Chancellor to take up  this issue of non gazetted employees with utmost urgency so that the sufferings of students in particular and university in general, come  to an end.
