JAMMU, Feb 17: The University of Jammu and Chandigarh University Mohali showed its supremacy by lifting Men & Women Championship trophies in Sanda (Men) and Sanda (Women) respectively in All India Inter-University Wushu (Men & Women) Championship 2023-24 which concluded at University Gymnasium Hall, here today.
The Men Championship was bagged by University of Jammu with 31 points. The Runner-up and Second Runner-up positions in Men section were bagged by Chandigarh University, Mohali with 18 points and Lovely Professional University with 11 points. The Championship in Women section was won by Chandigarh University, Mohali with 18 points. Similarly, the 2nd and 3rd places were occupied by CCS University, Meerut with 10 points and Raja Mahinder Singh Partap University with 06 points respectively.
In Taolu Event, the Championship was won by Chandigarh University, Mohali with 41 points whereas the 2nd and 3rd places were occupied by University of Jammu with 35 points and Lovely Professional University with 30 points respectively.
Prof. Anju Bhasin, Acting Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest on the valedictory-cum-prize distribution function of the Championship who awarded the individual medals and trophies by the dignitaries on the dais to the players. She also appreciated the mass participation of the players and officials accompanying their teams of the various Universities.
Vijay Saraf (President Wushu Association of J&K) and Kuldeep Handoo (Dhronacharya Awardee and Chief Coach Wushu India) were the Guests of Honour. Earlier, Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu presented the formal report.
