JAMMU, Oct 2: Protest sit -in of Jagti Tenement Committee and Soan Kashmir front J&K has completed one year today .The protest sit-in was started on October 2, last year by JTC and SKF.
JTC in a handout issued here said the protest has been going on continuously till date. In addition, the protests have been staged many times in the other migrant camps of Jammu and also in Press Club, the handout added.
It said today’s protest was held under the leaderships of JTC and SKF president, Shadi Lal Pandita. Addressing the protesters Pandita said that the cash relief given by the Government to migrant is meagre on which the relief holders are unable to keep their body and soul together. He demanded increasing the monthly cash relief from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 as relief holders are facing many difficulties.
He said unemployment in the community has reached its peak and the educated youth are worried. He demanded a package of 20,000 jobs for displaced youth and settlement of pending demands including permanent resettlement in three satellite townships in Kashmir Valley.
He demanded illegal occupation of land, property and religious places should be removed and KPs should be given minority status. Others who participated in the protest sit-in were M L Razdan , Ravinder Koul ,Kamal Pandita , Kashi Nath Bhat , S L Kar , Shuban Krishan Raina , Vijay Bakshi, Satish Pandita, Raj Kumar Bhat , Ram Krishan Bhat etc.
