JAMMU, Mar 28: Jagti Tenement Committee, (JTC), Soan Kashmir Front and Displaced Hindu Youth Front today made an appeal to senior Congress leaders including Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, PCC president Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz and candidate for Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat, Madan Lal Sharma to pay a visit to Jagti Township and see the problems of the migrants putting up there.
Talking to reporters here, today, president of these organizations, Shadi Lal Pandita said that the Jagti camp inmates are facing huge power cuts which has made their lives miserable. With the visit of these leaders they can themselves ascertain the problems of the people in the township and take the steps for their remedy, he added.
Pandita also made an appeal to Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah in this regard and urged him to take steps in mitigating the problems of the migrants putting up at Jagti Township who in turn will also extend all cooperation and support to Government.
He said during past several years the migrants at Jagti Township suffered a lot due to prolonged power cuts and the studies of the students were also adversely affected.
He said the State Government has received lot of funds from Centre for welfare of migrants which were not utilized on ground. Even the Centre is fully compensating the State to bear the power tariff and other charges of migrants still they demand electricity charges from displaced people putting up at Jagti Township.
He demanded a thorough probe that where the funds given by the Centre in past had gone as the State Government was supposed to provide every facility to the migrants which it is avoiding.
