JAMMU, Mar 13: Jammu State Morcha (JSM) today said that it will not contest the Lok Sabha elections on its own but will only support those candidates who will genuinely champion the cause of Jammu people and region.
This was stated by the JSM president Prof Virender Gupta while talking to reporters here.
He said in its meeting held on March, 10, the Morcha has decided to approach the candidates, contesting Lok Sabha elections from Jammu province asking them to put forward their achievements and their respective plans/agenda for the future development of Jammu province before the public so that the people can assess their suitability as their representative in Parliament.
He said Morcha has drafted questions for the candidates to answer.
The Morcha through its questioner wants to know what the contesting candidates will do to end discrimination with Jammu and in empowering it vis-à-vis Kashmir Valley.
Morcha also wants to know what will be the role of the candidates for the creation of a separate Jammu State, delimitation of Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies, in providing due representations to Jammu province, in protecting the unity, identity of Jammu province, to rid the Jammu province from the terrorist activities, in making the State corruption free, in the promotion of the institutions like Lokayukta, Vigilance organization, RTI and citizens rights, for solving the issues of the displaced persons from PoJK, West Pakistan refuges and terrorism affected displaced persons of Jammu province and a host of other issues.
Among those who were present in the press conference were H.B.Khajuria, Nathu Ram Gupta, Divender Singh Jamwal, Subash Sharma, Vishav Bhandu, Prof. Vijay Sharma, Rajeev Sharma, Surjeet Singh and V.D.Dogra.
