JSM discusses discriminatory policy towards Jammu region

JAMMU, Apr 4:  A meeting of Jammu State Morcha (JSM) was held wherein they discussed discriminatory policy towards Jammu region.
The meeting held under the chairmanship of its president, Prof Virender Gupta condemned the continuous discriminatory policy of the State Government against the people of Jammu region as was evident in the selection of Excise Inspectors, where out of 22 selected candidates, only 6 belonged to Jammu province.
The Morcha also expressesed its concern on the fact that Jammu province was ill treated in the allotment of development funds for the districts of Jammu province . They added that, It is not equitable development that is strongly proclaimed by the Congress as well as National Conference. It is great shocking that none of the Ministers/MLAs of Jammu province and in particular Congress Party opposed this naked injustice with Jammu province.
Jammu State Morcha expresses its anguish on the fact that Congress Party and leaders of Jammu province again failed to raise their voice against the neglect of lakes of Jammu province. The lakes of Jammu province like Surinsar, Mansar and Dalsar were intentionally kept out of the jurisdiction of Lakes And Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA).
The grant for the developments of Lakes was only utilized on Dal and Nageen Lakes of Valley. Out of the grant sanctioned an amount Rs 2874.15 lakh was spent in 2011-12, Rs 2538.77 lakh was utilized in 2012-13 and Rs. 1372.21 lakh in 2013-14. In comparison the lakes of Jammu province got only a very meager financial a support.
JSM demanded that lakes of Jammu province be included in the LAWDA and be developed at par with the lakes of Kashmir valley.
