JAMMU, June 24: Expressing concern over distortion of facts about the Kashmiri culture which is the part of ancient Indian culture, senior BJP leader and former Union HRD Minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi said Kashmiri Pandits have a role to play in setting the things rights.
Interacting with young academicians, intellectuals and opinion makers of the KP community at the residence of political analyst Surinder Amabardar here, Dr Joshi urged them to mobilize the public opinion against the cultural genocide in Kashmir.
Expressing concern over US intervention in Kashmir, he said Americans continuous intervention is not acceptable to nationalist forces in the country.
He said in view of cultural genocide in Kashmir the return of Pandits be seen as a return of a civilization. Therefore a compact and concentrated rehabilitation of all those who left the Valley during the mass exodus of 1989-90 and prior to that be stressed.
The veteran BJP leader, while expressing concern over the growing terrorism of which the Kashmiri Pandits became the first victims said that Pak entered through the means of terrorism in Kashmir in 1989-90 while the other global insurgents entered in Valley in 1993-94 in follow up of the Pakistan’s proxy war.
He while criticizing the role of mainstream politicians in the Valley said they are instrumental in misusing the situation to their advantage and keeping the unrest boil to suit their own interests while the majority has urge to build concord with nation.
The meeting held deliberations on cultural genocide and return and rehabilitation of Pandits in Valley of which they are the aborigines.
