Jollywood film ‘Damini-The Victim’ promo screened

JAMMU, Sept 16:  Jolywood-acronym for the Jammu based film industry–added one more step in its nascent journey with screening of promo of Hindustani film ‘Damini-The Victim’, at the Press Club here today.
‘Damini-The Victim’, the latest film produced under banner of 999 Production, is inspired by the real life event, the Delhi incident in which a 23-year-old paramedical student was gangraped and murderously assaulted a in a private bus on the roads of Delhi on the night of December 16, 2012.
Addressing the press conference here today, director of the film Shahid Kazami, said that his team deeply moved by the gruesome Delhi rape incident thought of making the film on the theme but the story has setting of the metropolis of Jammu.
‘Damini-The Victim’ is about two young lovers, who get late one night and board a matador where the girl is raped. What follows is a saga of social and political callousness, in-action of police and judicial corruption. But due to iron resolve of an honest investigating officer, the culprits are apprehended and sentenced to be hanged till death. Shahid Kazami said we are very happy that the recent judgment in ‘Damini’ case by the Delhi fast track court has come out to be the same as shown in our film.
Shahid Kazami who hails from Surankot and younger brother of Rahat Kazami, the Mumbai based director, said that the movie is set to be released in October next month in Jammu and Kashmir and thereafter other states of north India including Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. He said entire cast of the film is local and the film has been exclusively shot in Jammu and has breathtaking views of the winter capital.
Produced by Parvinder Pal Singh ‘Lucky’, the cast of the film which has a special appearance of famous Bolywood actor Raghubir Yadav, includes Sonam Manhas and Arjun Manhas in the lead roles while investigating officer’s role has been played by young actress Vansheen. Others who have also acted in the film are Raja Sarfraz Ahmed, Shammi Malhotra, J R Sagar, Lalita Tapasavi and Parvinder Pal Singh.
Lakshmi Chand Pinku is the cinematographer while singing, music and lyrics have been handled by Shubdeep Singh in collaboration with Ashu Kumar, Vineet Singh and Jaganjot Singh.
