DODA, June 16: The job card holders here today staged a protest demonstration at Kahara, Gandoh in Tanta area of Sub-District Thathri.
The protest was led by Babar Nafice and the protesters raised slogans against the Rural Development Department (RDD).
They were demanding immediate release of pending payments to job card holders along with material costs to the MGNREGA job card holders.
The protesters alleged that RDD has failed to clear the payments to poor people even after the work stands completed for over a year.
“Only the influential workers are being paid and poor workers are ignored in all the Panchayats of Block Kahara,” they claimed adding: “If this malpractice will not stop, then they will come on streets.”
They also threatened to lock BDO Office Kahara if their wages were not paid to them within a month.
