JAMMU, Feb 2: Jagti Migrant Welfare Movement (JMWM) has urged the Central Government to formulate a concrete and time-bound rehabilitation policy for the dignified return of Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) to the Valley by March 31, 2025.
Sunil Pandita, president of JMWM, stated that despite over 36 years since the exodus, no substantial efforts have been made for their resettlement or financial upliftment. While the Union Government has achieved significant development nationwide, the concerns of KPs remain unaddressed, causing distress within the displaced community.
Pandita also demanded the creation of 20,000 permanent posts for unemployed educated KP youth and an increase in monthly cash assistance from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 due to rising living costs. He reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for the rights of displaced KPs until a viable rehabilitation policy is implemented.
