JMC’s Standing Committees hold meetings

JAMMU, Feb 23: Jammu Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committees of Public Health Sanitation, Social Justice and Swacch Bharat today held meetings.
These meetings were chaired by Baldev Singh, Jeet Kumar and Suraj Parkash, Chairpersons of the Committees.
Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta was the special invitee at these meetings.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson of Public Health Sanitation Standing Committee directed the concerned authorities to explore the functions related to health, sanitation, drainage and sewerage disposal.
He directed that the trade fee should be recovered from the bulk waste generators like Banquet Halls, Hotels, big establishments, shops and Restaurants etc along with user and sanitation charges so that the revenue can be generated for the smooth functioning of JMC.
Chairperson of Social Justice Standing Committee directed the concerned authorities to promote education, economics, social and the other interest of scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, backward classes and weaker sections of the society. He also stressed that weaker sections of the society should also be uplifted.
Chairman of Swacch Bharat Standing Committee directed the concerned authorities to monitor and review the progress under Swacch Bharat Mission and take initiatives for betterment of Jammu City.
The Mayor said that JMC will purchase big dumpers, temporary sheds at different places for segregation of waste.
He also said that more autos will be provided for lifting garbage and stressed on awareness programmes to the public aware about keeping Jammu City clean and green.
Assistant Commissioner (R) and Joint Commissioner (A) also the Member Secretary of the Standing Committees, JMC assured that every possible step shall be taken for better implementation of the schemes.
